Stigmatizing Language in Healthcare Documentation

1.0 CE CreditIn this session we will explore how stigmatizing language is embedded in our healthcare system and in healthcare documentation. We will review current literature to learn who is affected by stigma and bias within health records, and discuss the direct and indirect harms resulting from negative descriptors and bias. This session will provide the opportunity to interactive with colleagues to practice identifying stigmatizing language and also practice using neutral language in documentation.
