Position Description

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) will be an integral part of our adult Medical Oncology outpatient practice, seeing adult and possibly pediatric patients with Melanoma/Cutaneous malignancies as part of our Melanoma/Cutaneous Oncology Care Team.  NPs and PAs are an integral part of the cancer care teams at Mayo Clinic and see both new patients at initial consultation and follow established patients, guiding them through their established treatment plan in close collaboration with supervising physicians. The NP or PA manages treatment-related toxicities for patients who are going through standard and research-based chemotherapy/immunotherapy, as well as provides care and support for patients during all aspects of their disease course, including through curative intent therapy, survivorship management to assess for cancer regression/progression/recurrence, management of long-term treatment-related toxicities, assessment of patients enrolled in clinical trials, and end-of-life care.  Due to the complexity and breadth of the patient population, the ideal NP/PA candidate requires a commitment to challenging and complex patients, excellent communication and assessment skills, as well as the ability to balance treatment with symptom management and psychosocial support. The individual NP/ PA will work within the focused Melanoma/Cutaneous Oncology Care Team.  This is a focused tumor group currently comprised of 4 Consultants, 1 NP, 1 care team RN, and other allied health staff dedicated to this tumor sub-specialty.  The team works in close collaboration with colleagues in Dermatology, Surgery, Radiation Oncology and other multidisciplinary teams.  The Melanoma/Cutaneous Oncology team is looking for someone who has both a strong clinical interest as well as is potentially interested in working with the team to develop their personal academic/research career as opportunities present themselves. The team's leadership is interested in mentoring the academic and research career growth opportunities that will augment this unique clinical practice. All NP/PAs in Oncology will provide back-up coverage to our Acute Clinic serving Oncology outpatients presenting with acute symptoms, on average 1-2 times/year.

**Department is open to either .9 FTE or 1.0 FTE**


Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certified as an FNP, ANP or ACNP; or

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.

The NP PA must be eligible for DEA registration.

Additional Qualifications:

Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,936.00, based on a full-time position.
