Job Description:

University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join University of Minnesota Health Neurosurgery team.  In this role, you will provide outpatient neurosurgical care to patients in the M Health Clinics and Surgery Center. You will be working closely with our academic Neurosurgeons.

Advanced Practice Providers (APP) are essential members of our neurosurgical practice team. In this role you will

  • Engage in independent decision making within the team environment while providing health care services to adult individuals throughout their life span.
  • Perform physical and psychological health assessments, educate and counsel, enter orders and interpret diagnostic procedures, to care for both acute and chronic neurosurgical conditions.
  • Ensure continuity of care for patients
  • Promote effective and efficient practice management practices that support patient access to medical care.
  • Collaborate with a designated practice pod to include 2 physicians, 1 APP and 1 Nurse, with occasional cross coverage for other practice pods.

Your Schedule:

  • Day hour schedule - no nights or weekends!
  • Full time, 1.0 FTE
  • Majority of time (90%) is spent in direct care of patients in the outpatient settings.


  • A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.
  • Eligible or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP. 
  • Licensed or eligible to obtain a license through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Nursing (NPs).
  • Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
