Hello Minnesota APRNs,

As you may have read in the recent newsletter, the MN APRN Coalition and Minnesota Nurse Practitioners (MNNP) worked with Senator Mary Kiffmeyer and Representative Nick Zerewas to introduce the second legislative language "clean-up" bill. We were successful last year in securing signature authority on many health specific statutes including the ability to sign death certificates. This year, we introduced another ten suggested changes related to healthcare provision. SF 2917/HF 3367 is this bill, and you can see a summary attached as a file to this message.

We are excited to report that the Minnesota Senate Health and Human Services Committee heard the bill yesterday. Senator Kiffmeyer did an outstanding job of presenting the bill. Shirley Brekken spoke on behalf of the Minnesota Board of Nursing and APRN Coalition Vice President Brian Goodroad spoke on behalf of the coalition. The bill passed unanimously out of committee and will go to the Senate floor. We have not yet learned when we might be heard in the House, but we will keep you posted.
