APRN Coalition Legislative Update Feb 2nd, 2024
Posted 9 months ago
The MN APRN Coalition has been busy laying the groundwork for the potential repeal of the 2080 hours of post graduate practice for new graduate CNP and CNS (Transition to practice or TTP).
Our Chief Author in the House is Rep. Bianca Virnig from District 52B (Eagan, Mendota, and Mendota Hts.) and Senator Kupec from District 04 (Northwestern MN). We have a number of legislators signing on to the bill with bipartisan support.
The Coalition has met the Minnesota Board of Nursing, Rep. Tina Liebling (Chair House Health Finance and Policy Committee), Senator Wiklund (Chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee), Rep. Jordan Rasmussen, Minnesota Medical Association, and Minnesota Academy of Family Practice Physicians. All legislators in the House Health Finance and Policy Committee and the Senate Health and Human Services Committee) have been contacted regarding the bill and meetings are being set up to advocate for the bill, gain support, or understand misgivings about the bill.
There is opposition to the Coalition proposal and the Coalition is actively working to understand the opposing parties' views.
