Hello, MN APRN Coalition members and interested folks,
We are happy to report that the bills to remove the required Transition to Practice Hours for new graduate Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists have been assigned numbers and will likely soon be heard in committees. The bill number in the House is HF 1794, and the bill number in the Senate is SF 1794. Yes, that is correct. The bill number is the same in both. Please keep your attention to our website and FaceBook postings, and we will keep you updated as the bill traverses the committee process.
In a very exciting legislative action this morning, SF 832, the Certified Midwife bill, sailed through the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. Mary Signe Chojnacki, APRN, CNM, provided testimony on behalf of the Minnesota Affiliate of the American College of Nursing and the Minnesota APRN Coalition and did a fantastic job of outlining the need for the role and highlighting the lack of opposition and bipartisan support. Now, on to the House.
Stay tuned and engaged, Minnesota APRNs and friends!
